I am truly sorry that I am not here today. This will be the first absence I have taken for non-school reasons in eight years. You are a priority in my life and by not physically being present does not model behavior I expect from you; hence the apology. Unfortunately, my kid is sick and he holds a priority in my life, as well.
Please retain the “Modest Proposal” notes for Monday the 15th as we will be doing a stretch of satirical analysis. I need for you to bring in (this is your homework) a piece of satire, no longer than 2 pages, single spaced. Feel free to browse the web if you finish today’s assignment early. Find something that is ridiculing current issues in our world. Find something that makes you laugh. Find an article that interests you. (See what I did there? What am I emphasizing and how did I accomplish this?) Please do not print off the first google search for “satire” and tell yourself you have completed the homework assignment.
